5 Reasons Why the Bean Bag Toss Is a Good Game to Play

The bean bag toss game has been invented a several years ago and many now consider it as an old game. It is somewhat similar to other lawn games such as the cornhole game and the washer toss game. The main goal of the players to win the game is to score as many points as they can by shooting a bag filled with corn grains or beans into a hole at the top of a small inclined platform positioned several feet away. Although it has been around for years already and may not be as popular as before, it still could be a very fun game to play. In fact, it is still a good game to play and below are 5 reasons why:

Rules are easy to follow – players take turns throwing bags towards a platform with a hole. That is basically the important rule you need to learn about the game. Even little boys and girls can easily understand the gameplay. It can be played just minutes after you learn the rules unlike video games and sport activities. Rules of the game may vary in different countries but the general objectives remain the same.

Components are easy to make or find – All that is needed to play this game are two platforms with holes and 6 all-weather bean bags. If you have a piece of wood in your backyard and a good fabric, you can make your own set. Bean bag toss game sets are available in a lot of shops in different countries too. If there is no store which sells them near your area, you can even purchase them via the internet so it is very convenient to get a complete set of components needed.

No special skills necessary – As long as you are able to throw a bag filled with beans then you are good to go. This is one reason that a lot of people can play this game without trouble. A little child can even compete with an adult in this game anytime. You do not have to have great physique to win it and you do not have to think deep too.

Can be played in different venues and occasions – This was originally created to be played in a lawn but since it does not have many restrictions and does not really require a special place, it can also be played in other spots. It can even be played indoors as long as the area have enough space to accommodate the platforms and room for players to conveniently throw some small bean bags. It can be played anytime or in a special occasion too.

It is very fun to play – Players, both young and old, are sure to have an awesome time playing the bean bag toss game. Though it is very simple, it is very enjoyable. How to Make a Good Game

It can be argued that there are no good or bad games; there are only games which some people like and some people don’t however few players actually stop to think why they liked something.

Fantastic graphics.
Lots of fast moving action.
Contains stunning movie scene(s).
3D realism.
Fantastic music.
Popularity.
None of the above makes a good game on their own and any game which relies on any or all of these to make it “good” is doomed to fail. These elements are enhancers to the game to help the player feel affinity with what they are experiencing but are second place to the interaction.

Player Interaction
At the heart of all games is how the player controls things. Often you need the player to control several things however games which have 10 or more different controls are at a disadvantage. They rely upon the player “memorizing” all these controls before they can get play for real.

All PC’s have a keyboard and as tempting as it may be to use this as the main interaction method, it is the least favored method amongst players. Game controllers place the important controls into the player’s hands, giving them a huge advantage over a player using the PC keyboard.

By far the most popular method of control for a PC game is the computer mouse. Mouse control is however one of the most difficult to design a game for. It is limited to just 2 standard buttons, uses the screen co-ordinates (which may differ on different resolutions) and requires careful game design.

Most (if not all) game distributors require mouse control as standard and other controllers as optional extras and since the player control aspect is the engine behind interaction, it needs to be in place from the start. Adding mouse support later often means a lot of re-design work.

Setting a Price For Your Game
You have finished your game, it has passed the Beta Testing and it is looking pretty damn slick! So the next step is to get it noticed so people can play it but before you do that, you need to give it a value. Even if you intend aiming at the Freeware market, your game should still represent value.

Under Pricing:
If someone doesn’t need a program or game, the fact that you may have grossly underpriced it is not going to induce them to purchase or even try it. Psychologically a game with a price tag of $9 is likely to be perceived at better value than a similar game costing $1 or even nothing; if it is too cheap, there must be something wrong with it.

Overpricing:
Users don’t care if you if you spent 100,000 hours developing your game or you need the money. They care about THEIR needs and the costs of alternatives for filling those needs. The two keys to pricing any program or game are the cost of alternatives and the value to the user. Note too that the price you set can become a benchmark for alternatives.

The Cost of Alternatives:
To do a sensible job of setting a price for your product, you need to know the retail markets for your product. Find out what other games of a similar type are selling for and compare your game to them in terms of quality, features and playability.

Value To The User:
For a game to be a success, it must have a large enough target audience, it must offer value to the player far in excess of its cost, and it must appear to be better and/or cheaper than alternatives. If there are many alternatives of a similar type, then your game must be greatly superior to alternatives (not just cheaper) to get people interested enough to favor yours.

In effect, your target audience is made smaller when your games niche is already dominated by highly successful games. Sometimes a programmer will price a program very low to encourage more people to pay for it. This strategy is fine if it is based on a like for like comparison with alternatives, but it is usually based solely upon desperation and/or lack of confidence. The strategy of trying to low-price a program is most often employed with low-value games or popular game types with huge target audiences.

It does NOT work.
Large numbers of people are simply not going to pay for low value programs, no matter what the price. Pricing has virtually no effect on the size of your target audience. If your game type is hugely popular with millions of competitors, you will be hard pressed to get it noticed at any price. Likewise, If you have a high value game, but a small target audience, you should keep your price up yet still giving consideration to the cost of alternatives. You may achieve fewer sales but overall gain a higher profit.

Charge for Value to the User, Not for Your Time:
If you are fairly new to programming and it took you a year to perfect your game, keep in mind that an experienced programmer or development team with a collection of sophisticated programming tools might duplicate (or better) your effort in just a few months. Price your product based upon the value to the user and avoid or play down the number of hours you spent.

People really do NOT care:

How long you spent on it.
What fantastic things you have put into it.
How clever you are.
They want a game which they enjoy playing and offers value to them.
